Waste Management Company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has provided basic Information Technology (IT) training in application softwares, Google map technologies, hardware among others for its drivers and mechanics to enable them understand and operate the various technological devices being deployed in their vehicles.
The IT training forms part of series of programs intended by management to upgrade the IT skills of all junior staff to operate the various digitalisation initiatives being deployed in their line of duty.
To this effect, management have also inaugurated a newly refurbished IT laboratory which will be used for regular IT training programs.
The Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Gloria Opoku Anti in a remark to inaugurate the facility indicated that the need for everyone to gain IT skills is inevitable as every aspect of our lives demand basic IT skills to successfully interact with one another.
She said most aspects of the company operations have been digitalised hence the need for all category of staff to understand basic IT skills to enhance efficiency.
Mrs Anti added that the facility will be used solely for IT based learning and urged staff to make good use of it.
The IT manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr. Felix Adu Asare indicated that a schedule for training all categories of staff has been developed and will guide the various IT training needs.
He urged staff to regularly avail themselves for the training and desist from using the facility for other purposes.
Over 90 drivers and mechanics were presented with certificates in basic IT training.
