Zoomlion Disinfect Police Facilities to Control Spread Of COVID-19

Zoomlion Ghana limited has begun another nationwide disinfection of police facilities across the country to help control the spread of covid-19 in police installations.

Police facilities such as cells, barracks, offices among others were all disinfected as part regular disinfection activities in partnership with The Ghana Police Service to help reduce the risks of infection among the security agency.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) of Savannah Region, DCOP Enoch Adutwum Bediako collaborated that disinfection is one of the WHO-approved COVID-19 protocols that helps to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

He explained that regularly disinfecting of touchable surfaces and workspaces help to get rid of COVID tendencies and other infectious viruses. Thus, he commended the police service for engaging Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) to disinfect all police facilities in the country.

Meanwhile some police facilities in the Volta Region has also been disinfected with some of the leadership calling for frequent disinfection of their facilities to help in protecting them against Covid-19 and other diseases.

Head of the Police Training School in Ho, Chief Superintendent William Yankey Acolatse, said with the knowledge that the new variant of the virus was deadlier, it was prudent to have disinfection every two months.

“We are told that the new variant is more dangerous than the old one so we need this place to be disinfected regularly to protect us here. If we get every two months, we will be happy,” he appealed.

It would be recalled that the police in May last year, launched a nationwide exercise at the Police Training School in Accra to fumigate and disinfect all 1,249 facilities of the service in the country.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr James Oppong Boanuh, who launched the exercise, said the health and safety of personnel of the service were paramount to ensuring security in the country. That exercise spanned one month
