KPONE LANDFILL RE-ENGINEERING SITE WILL BE COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE – ING. KWADWO OSEI

The Project Manager for Jospong Group, Ing. Kwadwo Osei, has said that, the re-engineering of the Kpone Landfill Site will be completed on schedule. He said, “The re-engineering of the Kpone landfill site into a recreational center is more than 90% complete and it’s expected to be completed by August 2023,” Ing. Osei explained to dignitaries and the media the stages as well as the extent of work done, and also the resolve to turn the site into a recreational park for tourism and its related purposes

This was made known when the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Cecelia Abena Dapaah paid a working visit last Tuesday May 24, 2023 to inspect on-going works on the decommissioning and re-engineering of the 35 hector landfill site.

He said, “The re-engineering of the Kpone landfill site into a recreational center is more than 90% complete and it’s expected to be completed by August 2023,” Ing. Osei explained to dignitaries and the media the stages as well as the extent of work done, and also the resolve to turn the site into a recreational park for tourism and its related purposes.

 Ing. Osei also made known, the remarkable achievements made on the site, as over a million cubic units of waste has already been relocated from the site to enhance drainage and landscaping of the site.  Gas wells that have been drilled to vent or flare the gas depending on the cubic volumes that will be emanating from the field.

“What is left to be done is the completion of access roads and coverts for effective drainage as well as improving on the green vegetation for the site”, he added. The Honorable Minister on her part expressed her satisfaction with the progress made and encouraged Zoomlion to adhere to the project timeline and ensure its successful completion. She emphasised her ministry’s dedication to regularly uphold the facility. “The ministry will fulfill its responsibility in maintaining the facility” she affirmed.
