Zoomlion Donates to AMA

Waste Management Company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has donated 10 brand new Nissan pick-ups and 20 motorized tricycles to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (A.M.A) as part of its corporate social responsibility to ensure effective monitoring and supervision of sanitation related activities of the Assembly.

The Managing Director of Zoomlion, Mrs Florence Larbi who made the donations on behalf of the company expressed her excitement about the gesture and hopeful that effective monitoring and supervision of sanitation activities will help achieve the president’s vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

“We are privileged to be a part of the clean Ghana agenda. In this year’s state of the nation address the president Nana Akuffo Addo, outlined the need of the fact that we have to resource our sub-metros so that they will deliver on their mandate to keep the city clean, and in support of that we want to stand behind our hardworking mayor to donate 10 pickups 20 motorized tricycles and other cleaning logistics to the tune of 1.5 million Ghana cedis in support of the clean Ghana agenda,” Mrs Larbi indicated.

The Chief Executive officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Mohammed Adjei Sowah who received the vehicles on behalf of the Assembly was thankful to Zoomlion for the assistance and revealed that the pick-ups and the logistics would help enforce the assembly’s bye-laws in the various sub-metros as well as collect the small heaps of refuse along some principal streets.

“If you drive along the streets of Odorkor and Accra on the median you will see people that have also piled heaps of refuse on the road as we clean every day, it is largely because we are unable to collect the heaps of refuse timeously and due to that people who live in the communities too come and add on and then it becomes like a refuse dump. This we want to stop in Accra and the motorized tricycles are going to help us stop this in no time,” The Mayor pointed out.

To be at the forefront of the environmental sanitation service industry, by the introduction and utilization of simple but modern technologies and methods of waste management at affordable and competitive rates.
